👷 Youth unemployment is one of the major problems the EU is facing. According to the EU labour force survey, in 2018, there were on average 3.4 million unemployed persons aged 15-24 and 22.4 million persons of that age group in the labour market. As today’s demands are increasing rapidly, so are young people’s set of skills need upgrading.
👩🔧 There is an increased need for skills, competences and knowledge related to digitally enhanced design and manufacturing, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, design thinking and prototyping.
👉 On the 20th of April 2021, the pilot testing event for the KA2 Erasmus+ YSM – Young Social Makers VET project was organised online, due to the current restrictions of the global pandemic (Covid-19). This session involved directly the trainers, who will be supporting and guiding the VET students for the Makers Space.
👨💻 The session included a presentation of the project, its objectives and the content created for it, followed by the participants’ registration to the YSM platform and navigation through the materials. To conclude the session, the participants joined in on a 3D design workshop on TinkerCad (one of the software tools recommended in the YSM Fablabs). The objective of this exercise was to design a slightly oversized mug for people with mobility issues.
