🌍 SMARCO Online Workshop
On the 14th of October, the SMARCO consortium came together for an engaging and collaborative online workshop that gathered participants from across regions to explore key themes around skills, applications, and priorities in our field.
💡 Setting the Stage
The morning began by outlining the objectives, shared first findings, and introduced the World Café methodology — emphasising collaboration, open dialogue, and knowledge sharing.
🗣️ World Café Discussions
Participants then rotated through three 30-minute discussion rounds each focusing on a core theme:
- Round 1: Validation of Skills identified for future emerging professions such as the Smart community Resilience engineer and Smart Community Resilient solutions Planner- highly related to Smart communities
- Round 2: Use Cases & Applications of skills in specific domains related to Smart communities
- Round 3: Priorities & Gaps on identified skills, suggestions of possible additions
These sessions sparked meaningful exchanges and collective reflection on where we stand and where we aim to go.
🧩 Synthesis & Closing
To conclude the session, the outcomes of the group discussions were evaluated and combined. This final segment brought together diverse perspectives, highlighting key messages and emerging priorities. Among the emerging priorities that were discussed were the ethics and transparency in data gathering and management for smart cities, the importance of systems thinking, cybersecurity and policy alignment.
