Course Description

Robotics goes to camp!  Coding and Robotics School: An intensive week course for youth workers and primary school teachers who are interested in organizing a Coding and Robotics camp for teaching technology, programming and computational thinking using Edison Robots.

Why Edison? Edison is a super affordable educational robot from Australia which has been design especially for educational purposes, suitable for beginners, it is LEGO compatible and it comes with a variety of freely available educational resources.

The innovative produced material for educators and learners will be freely available, offering resources, links, and material which are stored in a platform where you can manage the course and your class. The platform comes with an embedded eco-validation system to be used for awarding Open Badges for the acquisition of the coding and robotics skills. Moreover, the platform gives the opportunity for profile creation in order to meet the educator needs to communicate and track the progress of the learners.

The course offers the completed Tool KIT: all the relevant material which is essential for the implementation of a Robotics camp: ICT Guides (Framework, Syllabus, Teaching Material) on Coding and Robotics, as well as the booklet with all the practical information about the camp (registration form, parental consent, weekly schedule, visits and activities, evaluation forms, etc.).

This courses values and encourages creativity, confidence and hands-on experience with different game-based activities. Our curriculum promotes 21st century skills like problem solvingcritical and computational thinkingand develops communication and collaboration. By the end of the course, your students will have improved their STEM skills in an interactive and fun way.

Topics Include
  • Meet the “Coding and Robotics” platform
  • Creation of profiles for both educator and learner
  • Enable communication forum in an LMS (Learning Management System)
  • Introduction to programming basics
  • Meet the Edison Robot
  • Programming Edison robot with barcodes
  • Programming Edison robot with EdBlocks and Edware
  • Adding conditional logic, looping actions and variables
  • Implementing games that can be used for the purpose of covering different content and activities and to support learning and communication
